Our lessons are live, interactive, and taught by qualified teachers in small groups. Not recorded. Not automated. Real teaching — just delivered through a screen. Here's exactly how it works.
Platform 1
Zoom — live lessons
Every lesson is live on Zoom. The teacher runs the session, shares screens, uses the whiteboard, calls on children, sets timed activities, and gives feedback in real time. Children interact, ask questions, and work together — exactly as they would in a classroom.
Platform 2
Google Classroom — materials hub
Google Classroom is where everything lives between sessions. Session materials are uploaded before each lesson. Homework is set and submitted through the platform. Recordings are posted after each session and remain available for one week.
Nothing essential. Sessions run through Zoom and work straight from a browser, though the free Zoom app gives the smoothest experience on laptops and tablets. We send the joining link and a quick technical-check note the day before every session.
What if my child misses a session?
Get in touch and I'll send through what was covered, any worksheets used, and a short note on what to focus on at home. For Weekly Workshop pass holders, we can usually slot your child into another session that week so nothing is lost.
Does my child need a Google account?
No. Everything runs through Zoom and email. We don't use Google Classroom, Google Docs, or any login-gated platforms. Pre-course packs, worksheets, and feedback reports all arrive directly in your inbox.
Can I observe lessons?
For your child's first session, yes, you're welcome to sit alongside so you can see how we teach and feel reassured before stepping back. From session two onwards, we ask parents to stay nearby but out of view. Children settle faster, contribute more, and own their learning when they have the space to themselves.
What about technical problems?
WhatsApp me on 07352 452 249 the moment something goes wrong. I'm online from thirty minutes before every session and will get you in. If your connection drops mid-lesson, rejoin using the same link, and you'll receive a recap afterwards so nothing is missed.
Is online teaching as effective as in-person?
For 11+ preparation, yes, and in many ways better. Small groups of eight, qualified specialist teachers, and a structured curriculum work just as well live on Zoom as they do in a classroom. Children stay focused, the pace stays fast, and families save the weekly commute. Our Summer School at NLCS Edgware and our 4+ programmes in Barnet are the deliberate exceptions, where in-person genuinely adds something at those ages.
